It is now Recruitment time. Students aspiring to be
business managers would be searching for a good B-School to study. Here are a few tips that may help you to choose a good Business School.
Your Aptitude
We all need financial security. But we must also have an aptitude for the Job. A manager's job is not poetic, there is nothing romantic about it. You don't become an Office Babu expecting people to run to you, ring the bell. It is hard work. It is knowledge application. And mostly it is all about selling goods, ideas and concepts.
Prepare Well
There is no dearth of Jobs with handsome salary. But you must be good. Begin preparations from +3 level. Develop your written and spoken English. Read newspapers, knowledge of mathematics will come in handy.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure is important but it should not be the sole criteria. A five star ambiance is not required. You want a B-School to study in, not a resort to enjoy. See the usage statistics fro electronic resources.
Placement
A Business School is not a placement agency. A good institute prepares you for job. But you must verify the placement record. Check from the students who have been placed. Find out the quality of summer placements and the MDPs conducted by the institute. That should tell you about its acceptability by the recruiters.
Other Things to Check
- Check thoroughly the cost of study including hostel.
- Find out if there is any concession or scholarship scheme and links with any bank and then compare the cost with what you can afford.
- Do not fall for freebies like Laptop, Industry tours, free books etc.
- A good B-school is not that focuses on academic rigour and discipline.
- Check whether the institute is duly accredited, recognized and authorized.
